Alzheimer's Association Conference: Research Update


The purpose of this program is to provide a broad overview of the current research in Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Singer presents information related to the research efforts to improve earlier and more accurate diagnosis, the interventions to delay the onset or prevent the development of Alzheimer's disease, drug treatment research to advance symptomatic and disease modification protocols and psychosocial interventions for symptom improvement.

This learning activity was developed from Dr. Singer's live presentation of this topic during the 2013 Statewide Educational Conference of the Maine Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association held on October 25, 2013 in Bangor, Maine.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the four overarching areas of current focus related to Alzheimer's disease research.
  • State three healthy life style actions steps that can be taken to promote brain health.
  • Recall the purpose and intended value of clinical research trials.
